Tradovate Working Orders Panel Basics
The Working Orders panel in Tradovate shows every active order you have in the market. Most traders ignore it until something breaks, a bracket gets out of sync, or they don’t remember where their orders are. This panel gives you a clean list view so you can see exactly what’s working, what price it’s sitting at, and what needs to be adjusted or canceled.
Where to Find the Working Orders Panel
Open it from the left sidebar under Orders → Working. You’ll see a table with entries, stops, targets, and any resting orders.
This panel is especially useful if:
- You trade multiple contracts at once
- Your chart is cluttered
- You scaled in and now have several levels working
- You need to clean up orders fast
Understanding the Columns
The panel includes key details for each order:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Instrument | Market you're trading (ES, MNQ, CL, etc.) and contract month |
| Qty | Number of contracts in that order |
| Price | The price level the order is resting at |
| Type | Limit, stop, stop-limit, etc. |
| Side | Buy or sell |
| ID | Order number used for tracking and logs |
| Status | Working or pending |
If you’re not sure why an order exists, this panel answers it quickly.
Modifying Orders From the Panel
You don’t have to drag anything on the chart. Click any working order in the list and you can:
- Modify Price – opens a pop-up to change the level
- Convert to Market – sends it to fill immediately
- Cancel – removes it instantly
This is helpful when your chart is zoomed out and dragging is inaccurate. For deeper modification steps, see order modification basics.
Canceling Orders From the Panel
Click any order → Cancel. This works for:
- Limit entries
- Stop entries
- Bracket targets
- Stop-loss levels
If you cancel the entry, the entire bracket cancels with it. If you cancel only a stop or target, the OCO link breaks. Review your order cancellation guide if you need a deeper explanation.
Sorting & Filtering Your Orders
You can sort by instrument, side, or price. This matters if you:
- Trade two markets at the same time
- Have multiple scale-in levels
- Keep GTC orders open
Sorting helps you avoid canceling the wrong level when working quickly.
When the Working Orders Panel Saves You
Situations where the panel is better than using the chart or DOM:
- You scaled in and forgot how many levels you left out there
- You switched chart tabs and lost track of open orders
- You need to confirm whether your ATM bracket is live or broken
- You’re flattening and want to verify everything actually canceled
The list view gives you clarity the chart can’t.
Final Thoughts
The Tradovate Working Orders panel is a clean, reliable way to see every order you have active. Use it to confirm brackets, manage scale-ins, adjust stops, or clean up orders quickly when charts get messy or markets move fast.
