Tradovate Chart Tools
How to draw support, resistance, zones, trendlines, and markup on Tradovate charts without clutter.
How to Open the Drawing Tools
You can open Tradovate’s drawing menu three ways:
- Right-click the chart → Drawing Tools
- Click the **pencil icon** in the chart toolbar
- Press D (default hotkey)
Horizontal Lines (Support & Resistance)
- Open the drawing tools.
- Select Horizontal Line.
- Click on your level.
These are your basic support/resistance lines. Tie them to the market structure concepts from Market Structure Basics.
Drawing Zones (Supply/Demand)
- Open drawing tools.
- Select Rectangle.
- Drag from top to bottom of your zone.
Keep zone opacity low, same logic as Simple Chart Layout.
Trendlines
- Drawing Tools → Trendline.
- Click the start point → drag to the endpoint.
Don’t spam trendlines. They’re for context, not strategy. Reinforced in Execution vs Idea.
Channels
Useful if you trade ranges:
- Drawing Tools → Parallel Channel
- Draw your first trendline.
- Drag the parallel line to the other side of the price action.
Adjusting Colors & Thickness
To edit any drawing:
- Click the drawing.
- Open the properties panel on the right.
- Edit:
- Color
- Line width
- Opacity
- Dash pattern
Deleting Lines & Markup
Two options:
- Click the drawing → press Delete
- Chart menu → Drawing Objects → remove
Saving Drawings in a Workspace
Tradovate saves markup inside your workspace automatically, but you should still save manually:
- Chart → Layout Menu → Save
- Or save the entire workspace under Workspaces
This works together with:
