Bookmap Connections and Data Feeds: How to Get Real-Time Order Flow

Bookmap visualizations depend on the data delivered by the selected connection and entitlement. Rithmic, CQG, and dxFeed are three supported paths, but they are not the entire connection list. Provider availability, depth, trading support, backfill, exchange entitlements, and plan requirements can change.
Supported Bookmap Data Feeds
These are three commonly encountered connection families. Bookmap's current connectivity documentation also lists other providers, so choose from the live connection list for your Bookmap version:

1. Connecting Bookmap to Rithmic
Bookmap documents Rithmic as a futures connection that can provide full depth and, for CME futures, market-by-order data. Do not assume a prop firm, broker, or account supports Rithmic: confirm the current provider, credentials, gateway, exchange agreement, and concurrent-login policy with the account issuer.
Steps:
- Open Bookmap
- Go to Connections → Configure
- Click Add → choose Rithmic
- Select the account environment and system supplied by your provider
- Enter username/password
- Choose the provider-specified system or gateway
- Confirm the exchange and depth entitlement before subscribing to an instrument
- Click Connect
Use only the credentials issued for that Bookmap connection. Credential scope and simultaneous-session rules vary by provider and account program.
Common Rithmic Problems
- Incorrect server selection → no connection
- Using old login credentials from expired evals
- Trying to connect during maintenance windows

2. Connecting Bookmap to CQG
CQG Continuum is one supported futures connection. Confirm that your broker or provider permits Bookmap access and that your credentials include the required market data.
Steps:
- Go to Connections → Configure
- Click Add → CQG
- Enter your CQG username & password
- Enable Futures data
- Turn on Full Depth of Market if available
- Connect
Some brokers restrict depth unless you specifically subscribe, so check your market data package.
3. Connecting Bookmap to dxFeed
dxFeed is used for:
- Crypto order flow
- US equities
- Some global markets
Steps:
- Go to Connections → Configure
- Select dxFeed
- Sign in with your Bookmap email/password
- Select the markets you subscribed to
- Connect
The sign-in and subscription path depends on the current Bookmap/dxFeed offering. Follow the live Bookmap connection screen and current documentation rather than assuming a universal login flow.
Which Feed Should You Use?

There is no universally best futures feed. Compare supported markets, depth model, latency at your location, reliability, backfill, trading permissions, concurrent-login limits, and total cost for your specific account.
Required Subscriptions
- Bookmap plan that supports the intended connection and features
- Market data fees for each exchange
- Feed-specific fees depending on provider
Bookmap access is not uniform across products: confirm the connection, symbol, exchange agreement, and depth entitlement required for the view you expect.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
1. Bookmap loads but shows no liquidity
Confirm the instrument is subscribed, the market is open, the connection is live, and your entitlement includes the depth the visualization requires. Top-of-book and full-depth products are not interchangeable.
2. Error: “Login failed”
- Wrong server (Rithmic)
- Expired credentials (prop firm)
- Wrong username format (CQG)
3. Heatmap shows delayed movement
- You’re using demo data
- Your feed is throttled
- You’re on a VPN
4. Depth missing on CQG
Confirm that the connection supports the requested depth and that the account is entitled to receive it. Top-of-book, market-by-price, and market-by-order feeds expose different records.
Match the Connection to the Market and Account
Bookmap can only display the records delivered by the selected provider and entitlement. Recheck the plan, connection, symbol, depth, and account permissions when anything changes; a saved profile does not guarantee a continuing entitlement or clean feed.
